For many years now I have been searching for clues to help determine where my direct lineage ancestor, Moses P. Osborne, originated in Donegal. I am in possession of a Canadian Land record in which Moses Osborne stated he was born in County Donegal, Ireland in about 1794 and that he came to New Brunswick, Canada no later than 1819. Although I have been unable to find any record of his/their crossing, I have sound reason to believe that Moses came to New Brunswick with his sister Mary ( born abt. 1796) and that both were unmarried at that time. I have found records that would indicate there were Osborne families in Braade Upper, Glencolumbkille, Letterkenny and Strabane in the early 1800s but need assistance to determine which, if any, of these families my ancestor Moses may have belonged to.
There were numerous Osbornes in Straide/Braade, Glencolmcille during the period in question. The Church of Ireland records there go back only to 1827. The church was re-built in 1828.
The family nearest to the dates in which you are interested are James (1775-1849) who had children Elizabeth (1804-1884) and John (1808-1879) I did not find any Moses in the Osborne family except that Hannah, a daughter of John above married a Moses McNelisand had a son Moses

Hannah O'sborne was married to Moses McNelis. Hannah McNelis appears in the 1911 and 1901 Ireland Census as living at 15 Braade Upper/Lower, in Glencolumbkille. I am a descendent of hers through her daughter Cassie McNelis married Thomas Dunleavy, and had my grandmother Jane Ellen Dunleavy around 1900.

Hi,
My name is Philip Osborne and I am a direct decendent of John Osborne who married Berrie Maxwell in 1843. They had a daughter Hannah who married Moses McNelis. Her brother George Osborne was my great grand father and he died in 1928 and is buried in Portarlington, Co Laois, Ireland.
