I was reading about the Clancy brothers and their Aran jumpers and so became curious about Carrick. Very pretty area. (Or should I say a "wild" pretty area. :)

Does the store Babington (where the jumpers came from) still exist?

It was nice to visit Carrick a few weeks ago when the annual Graveyard Sunday took place. It was like a mini re-union! Lots of the Cunninghams turned up. The Bryces were there as were the Burkes including Maura and Paddy(O'Connor) from New Zealand. They were celebrating a big Anniversary and their daughters, Rachel and Marie showed up to help the celebrations. They 'made' the Donegal Demecrat! Even though there were obvious sad memories we shared some great yarns too. So, thanks to all concerned.

Hello Carrick - greetings from Aurora, Il, USA. I work with Marty Maloney, of the Carrick Maloney's (family used to own the Hotel in town). He spoke to me of an old friend, Patrick Byrne, whom he went to primary school with when he lived in Ireland. He has lost contact with him over the years. Patrick owns a farm outside of town. It would be nice to put them in contact with each other again. If anyone has info on Patrick - please let us know. Thanks....Todd

It brings a tear to my eye when I read that you're finally getting some decent, good winter weather. Good thing no waiting for buses in Malinmore. Happy New Year to all!

I always love to see those People who live far, far away visit here and express their fondness for our part of 'the oul sod'. So, I'd love to wish all our Emigrants a very Happy Christmas!
(I just about qualify as an 'Emigrant' myself - I live in Galway!
And thanks also to Cíarán for having such a nice, special Christmas Page.
